Don't Just Talk Christ, Show Christ
Words cannot fully equate how much the mission trip to Belize meant to me. The trip will hold a special place in my heart for several reasons: it was my first flight out of the country, my first mission trip, and in many respects the first major decision of my adult life. I had no idea what to expect, but I knew that I had to do it. There came a time where I felt I became too accustom to the "9-5" of church life. I would go to church every Sabbath, but I felt that there was something missing. The weekly church "call to action" missed the action, but the action was to be on my part. The mission trip gave me a chance to bring my spiritual journey to life.
The biggest lesson I learned was the power of the Holy Spirit. Even before the trip, a blessing came in the form of my passport coming two weeks early. I had already told the team that I would not be able to make it, but on the day of the flight my passport came in. The blessings kept rolling from there. Peace Above the Storm gave me a chance to experience "hands-on" ministry. Daily I found myself re-assessing my personal connection with Christ. I saw the love of Christ through the Belizean people, and that inspired me to strengthen my personal relationship with Him. The gospel should not be limited to our immediate family or even our local churches. It is our responsibly to spread it as far as we can. Don't just talk Christ, show Christ!
I cannot wait to see where the Lord will take me and Peace Above the Storm Ministries. My hope is that this ministry will expand and others will have an opportunity to experience a sermon in action.
